The Alpha and Omega… -28th

Endings can be either satisfying or sad. Sometimes we wish it never happened and sometimes we’re glad that it ended.

And so it is with begginings. We may be rejoicing over something that we will start doing, or we may become discouraged because we don’t want to do it because we think we don’t have what it takes or it’s a waste of time.

But either way, beginnings and endings have a huge mental impact on our life. We may suddenly feel sad because someone passed away or feel happy that someone was born. We may also feel sad because of something ended that we have been doing so often. Other times we can be so energetic and animated because we’re so excited to start something new, like college. And we can also feel very nervous and edgy because we’re so anxios to start something new, like college.

Anyway, the point I’m trying to get across is that, the way we perceive beginnings and endings have the potential to make us who we are. It can makes us FEEL a certain way, either for good or for bad. And as Christians, we don’t want our feelings to take control of us if it will lead us astray. And so we must trust always our present and future to the one who knows everything, God who is the Alpha and Omega. That way, we can rest assure that he will take care of us no matter what and we needn’t worry so much, because He loves us and will always give the best for us.

It’s finally here, last week of high school. I am really glad that I made it through, by God’s grace. And also encouragement and support from my long distance friends and families.

I learned so much this year here in Weimar Academy. One if the biggest improvements I have made is that I learned not to procrastinate my homework. And this year I also learned how to write effectively, finally..

Once I get out of Weimar for good I will be very busy with preparing to leave for Indonesia. I will finally start on my career as a Physical Therapist

7 Habits of Highly Effective People – 26th

Currently, I am reading a book by Stephen R. Covey called “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” To me this book has been a really great help in a sense that it helped me understand how to view life and identify your own unique sets of values. I haven’t finished the book yet, but I will finish it during summer…

Anyway here are some of the things that I learned from him. He wrote how today people are living in various bad state such as “Fear and Insecurity,” “I want it now,” “Blame and Victimism,” “Hopelessness,” “Lack of Life Balance,” and others…

On one part of the book he is tries to tell people that being successful alone is not enough. We need to know what we really want and that virtues should be the paradigm in how view our life. He also states that succeeding a certain goal at the cost of another is not a good thing.

For example, if you become a great CEO of some huge company and to get there you spent hours and hours working hard but at the same time sacrificed those hours that could be spent on family, then in the long run it is not a success after all, because later when you are on your deathbed or something, you get an epiphany of the things that matters to you most (like family and friends) and suddenly you regret sacrificing all those time that could’ve been spent with them.

I really think that this book is really good because I know it will help me understand about the meaning of life and how to experience it.

Campout Review – 25th

Last weekend we the Academy of Weimar institute had the opportunity to went on a camping trip to Salt Point state park.

Personally for me I had been working triple hard so that I can go on this campout. My English IV online class was due on Sunday, May 10th but because I wanna go on this campout thing I set a goal for myself to finish everything by Friday May 7th.

Frankly, the campground wasn’s as nice as I thought it would be because it is annoyingly windy and cold. The view, though, was nice and we get to see some seals upclose and fed them and it was a lot of fun. We also went to Fort Ross and I thought that was really awesome because I get to watch an old canon fire, no cannonballs though.

On the way back however, I felt really tired because of the busride and I also got flu. It was a bother but I deserved it because I didnt really use my jackets…

If I Can Be There… -23rd

If I can go back to any past event in the world at any given time line I’d like that to be when people were resurrected. Specifically, I would want to be there when Jesus raised up Lazarus from the dead. I can imagine the awesomeness when he walked out of the tomb. I would probably half-faint too because it’s just so super natural. The malodorous air can be smelt all around the area and people starts vomitting all over. I can hear the people talking to each other of how great is He and that He is truly sent by God.

Guns or no guns -22nd

Based on the Second Amendment of the United States of America, common people in America have the right to keep and bear arms. The question is, is this morally right or wrong? Well, for me, I think that giving people the right to own weapons and carry them anywhere is just scary. Think about it, it could fall in the wrong hands, and it has, and they’ve taken out many lives. I believe that people should be able to defend themselves, but guns and rifles and shotguns are too much, in my opinion. And bringing them to their workplace or schools are just wrong because we see some cases where that has gone terribly tragic, such as the Columbine shootings and Virginia Tech incident. What the government should do is they should take out that Amendment and make it so that people who feel that they need to have a weapon at all times get a job that allow them to handle weapons like in securities or police or bodyguards or national guard.

Americans vs. Recession -21st

In these past months America have been suffering economically from the recession. People have been looking for ways to save their financial life. One of the ways Americans are doing to fight recession is by growing vegetables on their own. This is to save money for grocery of course. Another is casinos have been trying to use comps, or a free ticket to their casino, to try to” reel” in gamblers. And yet another is that while people have been losing their jobs, they are turning to freelance work. They get paid to do a certain task that requires certain skills and they hope to get by doing these jobs.

Ola, we have finally arrived back from the Mission Trip. The whole trip took us about 2 weeks’ time. The first 9 days was dedicated especially to religious and health seminars at five churches with different teams of 5 to 6 people, while the last ones was where the fun begins and went to different tourist hotspots.

I will share with you some experiences and highlights that we had while we were there.

One is that I admit that I had a wonderful time with my church’s members that I visited. While we were there, me and Mr. Greenfield, the principal, and another friend of mine had the privilege of putting together and welding up a fence to replace the old one for one of the churches there. It was made up of steel and we had quite a workout out of it — because it was made of steel it took a lot out of us to twist and bend and cut the material in order to make it look nice. But even though it was really hard work, in the end it was well worth the effort and we were proud of our craftsmanship but best of all it was worth because it is for a good cause. And so they are really grateful for that. They are also grateful that we came and evangelized for them and gave them health educations (even though the health talks are pretty basic– but I guess people need to be reminded of the basics sometimes). The people there are just fun to be around and they like you no matter what your background is.

Aside from the work and seminars, we also had a blast going on the state’s tourist spots. We went from motor boating the beautiful river and Canyon to visiting Pelinque, the Mayan ruins. Those days are a blast and someday I think I will go back and revisit those places.

My Getaway -18th

If I could take an expense all paid to any place in the world, where would I go? I’d say my favorite getaway place would be Bali, Indonesia. Why? Because first, it’s extremely gorgeous, and second It’s extremely artistic, and third the people are really nice and their foods are fantastic.

What I’ll do when I get to Bali is first I’m gonna stroll down the hillside and enjoy the beautiful view of rice paddies that dominates the landscape there, then meet and be friends with the nice people there, enjoy their foods, and just have a great time. I’ll visit the historic sites and all the gorgeous Hindu temples and watch their artistic dances. And then I’ll go to their world-famous beaches and rivers and go swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, whitewater rafting, sailing, and maybe some surfing.

For this getaway, I would probably go by myself because I want it to be like a re-creation or something of the soul and body and mind. I will take about 30 days of time while in there, and who knows, maybe by chance I’ll get to live there someday..

Mission: Chiapas, Mexico -16th

In a few days, we are leaving for Chiapas, Mexico for a “Mission” trip. I am excited of course like everyone else because we’re getting out of the country. What I expect down there is for my eyes to be opened to the poverty of the third world and that we as the fortunate have a Mission to help them and to give them knowledge about health and education. I will not mind sleeping on hard tiled floors or taking cold showers twice a day or as a matter of fact other things that we take for granted here in U.S. because when we’re out there helping those people, we will show them that we care. That we want to emphasize with them. That we’re there for them and we want to make their lives healthier and we want to show them how to live a good life.

How am I preparing for this Mission? Honestly, besides packing clothes and the hygienic tools and of course practicing the Health speech that I am supposed to do, I haven’t prepared at all. Because I wanna know what it feels like to be in a place like that far away from home. I guess you could say that I will just go with the flow…
